a. Good Geographical Location for Asean countries, Asia Pacific
region & World
Singapore is a small island of 637 sq
Km (42Km from East to West) and (23km from North
to South) situated in South East Asia
at the tip of West Malaysia with a tropical climate that
is hot and humid at about 30°C temperature
with rain and shine all year round. Singapore
has the world best Changi International
Airport with three terminals and the busiest port in
the work.
b. Honest and Competent Democratic Government - Pleasant home
& good quality
of life
In the olden day about 140 years
ago, Singapore was a fishing village with a British Trading
Post attracting many immigrants from China,
India and Malaysia to seek for jobs and build
families. Singapore was under the
Federal States of Malayan and British colony between
1819 and 1959. After independent
on 9th August 1965, Singapore became a Republic State
with the President as the Head of State
and the Prime Minister as the Head of the
Government.
In the 1960s, The People's Action Party
(PAP) led by the leader Mr Lee Kuan Yew united the
different races as Singaporeans upholding
the State Flag, National Anthem & Citizen Pledge
for peace, prosperity and progress based
on justice and equality to build a democratic
society that promotes racial and religious
harmony with due respect for individual right.
Singapore adopted English as the official
language and started to build the seaport, schools,
market and hospital for entreport trade
and shipping. Today, PAP is still the ruling party
with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as
the Head of the Government & President SR Nathan
as the Head of State.
c. A Progressive and Developed Nation
with Disciplined & Educated Workforce
In the 1970s, Singapore geared
to National Security, Housing Construction and Urban
Redevelopment for making Singapore into
a shopping city creating good business & leisure
climate. In the 1980s, Singapore
opened to Industrialization and Tourism for strong
economic growth on foreign trade and investment.
In the 1990, Singapore started to sell
land for commercial building development
enhancing retailing, construction, banking and
financing sectors.
From 2001 to 2006, Singapore is financial,
communication, medical and education center in
Asia Pacific region. Singapore has
good trade relations with United States of America and
Europe. In Asean countries, Singapore
enjoys free trade and good investment incentives.
With the third largest oil refinery in
the world, Singapore is the energy hub for Asia Pacific
region enjoying S$210 billion GDP at S$46,832
per capita GDP with 2.7% unemployment
rate and projected S$1.1 billion trade
surplus (2007).
d. Singapore is ready to accept the new challenges of world
economic changes -
Globalization
From 2007, Singapore is becoming a global
city with integrated resort and mega shopping
and office complex. Without natural
resource, 4.5 million people (76% Chinese, 15% Malay,
6% Indian 3% EuroAsian) strive hard to
provide excellent infrastructure, free market policy
with limited control in foreign exchange
& no protectionist measure, foreign companies &
enterprising individuals are attracted
to live, work and invest in Singapore & Singaporeans
are investing on personal skill development
and setting up businesses abroad.
